first-e’ offers exactly the same kind of mortgages that are available in a traditional bank or building society, EXCEPT that we offer you an online, and therefore faster service. The Product Guide provides more detail on the individual products available.

As a responsible lender , we need to know your salary and the purchase price of your property to ensure our customers do not become financially 'over stretched' once they have taken out a mortgage. As a guide, we will lend 3 times the higher income plus one times the lower or 2.5 times both incomes, and up to 90% of the purchase price of the property. The calculators will help you work out how much you can borrow.

We have tried to make the online application form shorter than those you would have to fill in a traditional bank or building society. We only ask the information we need to make a lending decision, and then of course the information we need to help you buy your new home or transfer the mortgage, like the new address. How To Apply explains the application process in more detail, alternatively start your application now with Apply On-Line
If you have all the relevant information to hand – we tell you this in How To Apply, and at the start of the application form – it should take approximately 30 minutes
There is no hurry. Log off your application where you are and all the information you have input will be saved. To return to your saved application, enter your username and password which will bring you back to where you logged off.
We ask you to register at the start of your application to ensure that all the information you provide us is saved as you go along. If you need to leave the application at any stage you can log back on later and continue where you left off.
So that it is easy to remember, your username is your email address. If you cannot remember it, please contact us.
We use a credit bureau to confirm your name and address on the Voters Roll, and check for loans and County Court Judgements. If we decline your application based on information obtained from the credit bureau we will let you know.
You can change any information until you have submitted. If you need to alter any of the information after it has been submitted, please contact us.
As your home, and the property against which we have offered you a mortgage, you require buildings insurance to cover the costs of repairs, in the event of any damage.
Life cover provides assurance to both your family, and ourselves, that your mortgage will be repaid in the regrettable event of your death.
Whilst we carry out as much of the house buying process on-line, there are still certain things we need to confirm on paper, such as proof of income and employment.
We are able to tell you within 1 minute of submitting your application whether it has been accepted. If for any reason we cannot tell you online we will contact you by email.
Payments are made by direct debit on a monthly basis from your bank or building society account. We do not accept cash or cheque payments.
Yes you can. Please contact us, detailing how much you wish to repay. We will email you with a statement containing instructions on how to do this, and changes to your monthly repayments if you are not completely paying off your mortgage.
Yes you can. Please contact us with your existing mortgage details, and what you wish to change to.
Yes. Please contact us, and provide us with the address and purchase price of your new home?
With first-e mortgages, we calculate interest daily. Your monthly direct debit is worked out on your balance at the start of every month, Should you make any additional repayments, this will reduce the interest charge to your mortgage account immediately, and reduce your following month’s direct debit.
Similar to your original mortgage application, any increase to your existing mortgage will need to take into account your current salary and the market value of your home. If you wish to increase your mortgage, please contact us and we’ll tell you exactly what information we need.
It is vital that you contact us as soon as you think there may be a problem with your mortgage payments. It is in our interest as much as yours to help arrange options and solutions to help you back onto your feet as soon as possible.
